COVID-19 Protocols
Preventative measures and intensified sanitation protocols are being implemented to reduce the spread of COVID-19 (see details below). However, please be aware that because massage therapy and bodywork involves close physical proximity over an extended period of time in a closed space, there may be an elevated risk of disease transmission, including COVID-19. There is higher potential risk for individuals who:
Are 65 or older
Live in a nursing home or long-term care facility
Have an underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:
People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
People who have serious heart conditions
People who are immunocompromised: Many conditions can cause a person to be immunocompromised, including cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune-weakening medications
People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher)
People with diabetes
People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis
People with liver disease

Upon Arrival
12 - 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, you will be emailed a pre-appointment COVID-19 screening questionnaire to complete.
Upon arrival for your appointment, clients are asked to wait in your car until you are greeted at the studio door when it’s time to come in for your session.
All clients are required to wear a face covering. If you cannot wear a face covering for health reasons, then massage therapy/bodywork is contraindicated at this time during the pandemic.
Clients are asked to use the hand sanitizer provided in the reception area before entering the treatment room.

Session Procedures
Both practitioner and client must wear a face covering during the session.
If taking a sauna, clients may take off their face covering while they are in the sauna, but must put it back on after cleaning off/showering and before getting on the massage table.
For prone (face down) positioning, clients can either keep their face covering on while face down in the face cradle, or a long pillowcase can be wrapped around the face rest to serve as a larger barrier with more space to breathe. Clients can also be positioned side-lying if being face down with face covering or large pillowcase is uncomfortable.
To minimize the dispersion of respiratory droplets, talking will be limited during the session to only communication about pressure, warmth, and comfort.
Because a face covering is worn for the duration of the massage, safe face massage is not possible and therefore will not be offered at this time.
Hand sanitizer will be provided in the treatment room, bathroom and reception area.

Cleaning, Disinfection & Ventilation
The entire studio, including surfaces, equipment, and tools are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before opening, and all frequent touch points are disinfected between every session.
All used linens, blankets, and towels are laundered after each session in hot soapy water and dried completely at the warmest temperature allowed, then stored in a closed cabinet.
The treatment room sauna is cleaned after every use.
Practitioners are required to wash hands with soapy, warm water, for a minimum of 20 seconds before entering and after leaving the treatment room for every session.
PeaceWell Cottage features 4 large windows in the treatment room and will be open, weather permitting, for fresh air and ventilation.
There is also a room air purifier with a true HEPA filter, and several green friends (my plants) that help to naturally cleanse the air.
In addition, two large sky lights welcome in the sun’s beneficial rays to further support air quality, as well as, our body’s vitamin D production.
Appointment times are spaced out more than normal so only one client is in the studio at a time and will not come in contact with other clients before and after sessions.
